Balga SHS is a leading Teacher Development School (TDS) for STEAM Innovation Partnerships which brings together clusters of schools and other interested parties to look at innovative practices that will increase student engagement in STEAM education and programs.
In working with our neighboring Primary Schools, Balga SHS applied for and was selected by World Technology giant Google to create a collaborative Technology Centre in the Balga Schools area, based at Balga SHS.
Google has not only provided resources including Robotics Kits but made their staff available to school staff and students to enhance staff knowledge, expertise and support in technologies at a much faster rate than would normally be possible. This support enables a sustained engagement of students in new and current technologies.
