Visual Arts

The Visual Arts course allows students the opportunity to explore and appreciate the diverse cultures the Balga community has to offer. All students experience the core disciplines of drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, textiles and pottery.  Students are taught the skills to discover themselves and express their emotions and feelings through creative development.

Drawing is the key to design and students will discover the main elements of line, shape, colour and texture that capture the principles of art being balance, composition, contrast and emphasis.

The year 11 and 12 students are offered the Visual Arts General course which engages them in traditional and modern techniques within the broad areas of art form. Students are encouraged to explore their ideas and gain awareness of the role that artists play reflecting and shaping the values of society.

Furthermore, the Visual Arts program permits students time for reflection through self-expression and most importantly it is fun.  Art reduces isolation, assists well being and inspires students to look at nature and appreciate the wonders of life.
